Hello everyone. My name’s Baz and welcome to this blog/website which acts as a definitive chronicle of my life and works in addition to my latest adventures. It’s fair to say I’ve had a curious journey!
As it’s impossible to summarise what I do simply, I am or have been over the course of my life…
- A performance artiste
- A singer
- A songwriter
- A “musician”
- A poet
- A collage artiste
- A videographer
- An artist
- An archivist
- A writer
- A journallist
- A mentor
- A producer
- A sound engineer
- A photographer
- Awakened
I was always “different” and I remain a true and proud creative Individual. Where my work is concerned, I’m not the best at what I do… I’m the only one who does what I do!
This blog documents an ongoing journey that began way back in 1987 when I started archiving my life, works and activities. The archive contains over a thousand hours of unique audio and video materials, countless thousands of photos, plentiful memorabilia and millions of words of writings via my diaries, journals, essays and emails. It has taken a fair few years to digitise and catalogue as the main problem where archiving is concerned could be paraphrased by Mae West’s classic quote “Keep a diary, and it’ll end up keeping you!” as the ravages of time means constant maintenance is required. The archive has it all – The adventures! The dramas! The glories! The heartbreaks! The many people I encountered along the way… it’s all carefully documented and in ultra nerdy manner befitting my archival nature, everything appears here under the exact date when the event or whatever took place.
You’ll get to discover what happens when a kid with no talents ended up on a strange random journey where one thing led to another, indulging creativity in a wide variety of media and means. I always kept tongue firmly in cheek, nuking norms, fusing together the unlikeliest and absurd ideas. I turned heads everywhere I went but alas there were long periods of inactivity as I make no secret of the fact in 1996 I began a battle against depression which lasted for 20 years. I emerged victorious, fresh and reinvigorated rebooting my life successfully in Blackpool where by some strange twists of fate I built up a reputation as a “street photographer” whilst returning to performing after an absence of many years.
Naturally, the lockdowns of 2020-2021 fouled things up and set me off course in every department. After another period of inactivity, I am once more craving adventure and excitement, plotting a new course which will see me return to performing live to freak out and delight a new generation of audiences in 2024.
I still “have it”, not to mention a “new” working Omnichord… there’s still some fun and japes to come! You have been warned…
